Bangkok Trip Day 4 Part 2 - Khao San Road

From Wat Pho, we walked to Ta Tien Pier (~5mins walk). Along the way, there are some vendors selling dried seafood products.

Initially, we wanted to visit Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), but as it seems to be under renovation, we skipped the plan, and board the Orange Flag Boat to Phra Arthit (Pier 13). Do look careful at the direct that the boat is going to or ask around to avoid boarding the wrong boat.

From Phra Arthit, we walked (~15mins walk) to Khao San Road, a popular location for backpackers. Every year, the Songkran Festival (Water Splashing) is held at Khao San Road, and I would say that Khao San Road is more of a "chill-out" place where you can sit at 1 of the pub along the street to do people watching, or do your medicure/pedicure/message at low price.

After some shopping & fish spa experiencing, we walked to Phanfa Leelard Pier (~15 mins walk).

Instead of taking the Chao Phraya Express Boat back, we opted to take the Khlong Saen Saep Express Boat back to Pratunam area, as it seems to be a more straight forward route back. Tickets were also brought aboard the boat.

We were not disappointed by our choice; you'll see a more localised side of Bangkok that you'll not see at the various shopping areas and tourists attractions. On top of taking a peek at how local people manage to live along the river, you can also experience sitting on a boat with people coming in from any sides (depending on the pier), seeing skilled operators who stand at the edge of the boat to sell tickets and rushing to get off the crowded boat before it departs from the pier you want to alight.

We dropped off at Pratunam Pier, which is just next to our hotel, and went back to the hotel to freshen up before going for our dinner at "Once Upon a Time".
